The Art of Sound: JMorrero Pedals and the Craft of Tone
JMorrero Pedals was born out of a deep curiosity about the nuances in sound that separate different guitar pedals, amplifiers, and their interaction.
Starting in 2006, Jim Morrero (aka Jimmy Morrero) began building pedals for personal use as a DIY project. His passion for tone quickly grew into something much bigger, eventually leading to the creation of a line of highly distinctive pedals.
Here are some standout JMorrero pedals:
-
A/B/Bypass Looper: A simple but essential tool for effortlessly switching between two setups, ideal for live performances that require flexibility.
-
Antala: An analog-style delay pedal with a range from 10ms to nearly 1 second. Its smooth, organic delay sound surpasses that of classic pedals like the Boss DD3.
-
Vremolo: A versatile tremolo pedal that delivers everything from vintage amp sounds to clean, transparent modern tones.
-
E.M.18: Based on the Ceriatone amp, this overdrive pedal nails the tone of Joe Walsh’s "I Can’t Tell You Why," delivering rich, dynamic overdrive.
-
Kohrus: A high-fidelity chorus pedal that maintains bass frequencies while producing a lush, Eric Johnson-inspired tone.
-
D Zound: A dynamic overdrive that captures Robben Ford's signature tone, providing transparent amplification with exceptional touch sensitivity.
-
Compross: A transparent, dynamic compressor pedal, available for both guitar (4 knobs) and bass (2 knobs). It’s perfect for everything from smooth jazz tones to punchy country licks.
-
Wave Booster: A volume and frequency booster that adds up to 30dB of gain, perfect for solos or pushing your tube amp to the next level.
-
E.L.B. Mud: Set your amp clean, engage this pedal, and you’ll have a Marshall-like overdrive that cleans up as you lower your guitar’s volume. A dynamic preamp that can go from clean to crunchy with ease.
-
SCRIPT: A hot-rodded Phase 90 with three knobs, giving you an expanded range of sonic possibilities.
